Northeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership (NENCAP), INC is a private, nonprofit corporation. NENCAP serves an income-eligible population in a 14-county area of Northeast Nebraska with programs such as Head Start, Early Head Start, WIC/Immunizations, Healthy Families, Weatherization, and Family Services, free tax preparation, car seat programs, Veteran Services, Commodity Supplemental Food Program, and food pantries.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Healthy Families Advocate facilitates case management including health and parenting education to home visitation clients using the designated curriculum and other supplemental resources. Work toward the goal of reducing the incidence of child abuse, the Healthy Families Advocate will be working with pregnant women and parents of young children. Additionally, they will serve clients referred by the Department of Health and Human Services under the Child Welfare Adaptation and will meet the reporting and collaboration requirements of the CWA. Initiate and maintain regular contact with families primarily in their homes and establish trusting relationships. Provide prenatal and other health education, including bonding and attachment. Assist to strengthen parent-child relationships and enhance bonding. Assist parents to improve their skills to optimize the home environment for their child’s well-being and safety.  Provide bilingual education information when necessary. Maintain relations with community agencies and organizations as necessary and provide media outreach, marketing, educational sessions, and public speaking. Complete reporting requirements and assist with grants as required. Attend training sessions as required. This includes Healthy Families America Core Training and Growing Great Kids curriculum training. Responsible for assessments, surveys and assisting with the compilation of data and evaluation of activities as required. Maintain confidentiality of program participants and follow Program and Agency standards and policies.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in parent education, family support, human services, counseling, and knowledge of infant and child development, or similar: Preferred – not required.

Experience with outreach, case management and/or public health education. Experience in human services, home visits, or skills in early childhood development or early childhood mental health.
