Northeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership (NENCAP), INC is a private, nonprofit corporation. NENCAP serves an income-eligible population in a 14-county area of Northeast Nebraska with programs such as Head Start, Early Head Start, WIC/Immunizations, Healthy Families, Weatherization, and Family Services, free tax preparation, car seat programs, Veteran Services, Commodity Supplemental Food Program, and food pantries.
JOB SUMMARY:
Our Fiscal Officer is responsible for managing the organization’s financial systems, reporting, compliance, budgeting, and audit processes. This role is ideal for a candidate who wants ownership of the full finance function and values meaningful work in a supportive, community-focused environment. Fiscal Officer will also maintain corporate, fiscal, and property documents and records in accordance with written policies and procedures, audit, and funding source standards. Maintain general ledger to include, but not limited to, preparation of journal entries, account analysis and reconciliation, monthly closing of books and setting up new accounts. Verify all deposits. Address questions from banking institutions. Monitor grant receivables from federal, state, and local sources. Assist outside auditors at year-end to include, but not limited to, preparing schedules, providing explanation of supporting materials, and preparing other necessary and required data. File annual tax forms and government reports. Maintain confidentiality of program participants and follow Program and Agency standards and policies.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of accounting or finance management experience preferred.
- Experience with grants, nonprofit, government, or healthcare financial systems a plus.
- Must possess advanced computer skills and be proficient in Excel and accounting software.
- Need strong knowledge of GAAP and fund accounting.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with leadership teams and have excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills.
WAGE & BENEFITS:
Salary starting at $65,000 – $80,000 per year, pay based on experience, plus benefits. Benefits include health, life, dental and vision insurance.
