JOB SUMMARY: The Safety Coordinator will adhere to NENCAP personnel policies, Head Start Program Performance Standards, Early Childhood Standard of Conduct, staff calendars, Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), school handbook for parents and Rule 11. Maintain confidentiality for children, families, program, and Agency. Provide training on program procedures and paperwork to ensure staff are complying with safety practices as outlined in the Head Start Program Performance Standards including such things as hygiene practices, blood borne pathogens, child abuse and neglect reporting, safe sleep practices, storing of medication, etc. Provide and participate in on-site and program training as needed. Work with NENCAP’s Safety Committee in completing the Agency’s yearly safety inspections, inspection follow-up and SDS reconciliation at Early Childhood Sites. Monitor each location for completion of Early Childhood Safety Checklist, occurring three times a year. Follow up as necessary for compliance. Work with the Safety Committee to ensure each Early Childhood site has an Emergency Preparedness Plan that conforms to the Agency and Early Childhood Performance Standards.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: High School diploma and experience or knowledge in safety practices for children, staff, and facilities. 1 to 3 years of experience in a related field desirable.
